Flow Chart of Local Student Application

Hong Kong is implementing compulsory nine years free education. All qualified (holding Hong Kong Identity Card) children (6 to 15 years old), the Education Bureau has their legal liability to find a school place for them. They will first find the place within their residing District. If they failed to find the place in that District, they will looking for the place in other Districts nearby the residing District of children.

Flow Chart of Coming to Hong Kong for Study

Quote Kowloon City District as example:

First, report to the Regional Education Office of the residential address of the children, e.g. Kowloon City;

(Document Required: 1. Identification Document Proof, i.e. Hong Kong Identity Card, or Travel Visa to Hong Kong or Passport;

                                    2. Grade Table of the Latest School Year;

                                    3. Address Proof; and

                                    4. Identification document of the person showing on the address proof and the relationship with the child/children.

The address of the Regional Education Office for Kowloon City is : Podium 1/F, East Block, Education Bureau Kowloon Tong Education Service Centre, 19 Suffolk Road, Kowloon Tong, Kowloon.

At the same time, we can simultaneously apply school in the same district for the child. Most of the schools will arrange for candidates to participate in assessment test, first written test, then interview. We will first to attemp to register for assessment test of international schools stated as below:

Application for admission can only be processed through internet. Before submitting an admissions application, you need to join Friends of ISF.
