The Pakistani Prime Minister Attended the Commencement Ceremony of the Rashakai Special Economic Zone Project
On May 28, 2021, the commencement ceremony of the first phase of the Rashakai Special Economic Zone Project in Pakistan, which is constructed, invested, developed and operated by China Road and Bridge Corporation, was held in Cape Province. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan attended the ceremony and inaugurated the project, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong attended the ceremony.
In his address, Imran Khan said that China's level of industrialization has developed rapidly in the past decades and there are many experiences for Pakistan to learn. To achieve sustainable and balanced economic development of Pakistan, we must give top priority to industrialization, further strengthen industrial cooperation in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, continuously optimize its business environment, draw on China's experience in industrial and agricultural development, attract enterprises from other countries to locate in the zone and drive the rapid development of regional economy.
Nong Rong said that industrial park cooperation is the key to the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and the Rashakai Park has obvious location advantages and a promising future. China and Pakistan will take this opportunity to further consolidate and deepen their all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, strive for fruitful outcomes of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and build an even closer China-Pakistan community of shared future.
Rashakai Special Economic Zone of Pakistan is located in the northwestern Cape province of Pakistan. It is the first stop of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor into Pakistan and has been listed as the industrial park project with the highest priority by the Pakistani government under the framework of production capacity cooperation. The economic zone project is close to the M1 highway in Pakistan, 120 kilometers away from the capital Islamabad, with a planned area of 4 square kilometers, will be developed in three phases, combining the local market potential and superior resources, and introducing the automobile, machinery and equipment manufacturing, home building materials, food processing, household appliances, consumer electronics, toys, warehousing and logistics and other industries.
